Hello Earl Grey Families

It is great to see so many parents coming to drop off and pick up children to and from school as the weather improves. Just a friendly reminder, that you must drop off at the door and not come into the school as per our security policy. If you are coming into the school to meet with a teacher, volunteer or drop off a lunch, please use the front door and sign in at the office.

Thank you!

Wildfire Smoke and Air Quality

We are using the Alberta Government Air Quality Index as our guide https://airquality.alberta.ca/map/

When it registers 7 to 10 on the index, we will be keeping students indoors for gym, lunch recess and afternoon recess as it is high health risk. Outside Physical Education classes, walking field trips or outside offsite trips will be cancelled or postponed if the Index is 6 or higher.

Playground Update

Planning for the playground removal and new playground installation is well underway.  With this, the playground area is scheduled to be closed for July and August, reopening at the end of August.

Classroom Assignments

Student placements are decided collaboratively by teaching staff and administration. The teachers work together closely in creating lists. We look at academic abilities, learning styles, teaching style, gender mix, friendships, and positive peer to peer relationships. This is a very thoughtful task as teachers think of the best interest of each child as they create class lists. Classroom assignments will not be shared prior to our first day of class as we are continuing to finalize enrollment numbers due to new registrations over the summer.   Please do not request a specific teacher, as all our teaching staff are excellent! If you do wish to email me a specific educational consideration it will be read. However, there is no commitment on the school to accommodate specific classroom requests.

Division 1 Choir

Our Grade 1, 2 and 3 choir had a wonderful time celebrating their hard work with a special pizza lunch this week. It was such a joy to see them enjoying a well-deserved treat after all their effort and dedication.

I wanted to reach out with a quick clarification. When organizing the pizza, I mistakenly thought it could be covered directly through the school’s budget. I’ve since learned that, as per school policy, food costs like this need to be charged to each student’s individual account.

The total cost per student is $5.05 and we will now be processing this charge through the school office to be added to your child’s account. I apologize for not communicating this in advance and truly appreciate your understanding.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for your support — and for sharing your amazing kids with me each week!
