It was great to see so many families out for our annual Dad’s Breakfast! We were also happy the rain held off, and we were able to enjoy our breakfast outside. We want to thank Niall Forde and his incredible team of volunteers for your planning and execution of this event. They fed over 375 students and parents! My first experience at a Dad’s Breakfast was 10 years ago when I came as the new Principal Designate. It was a pleasure to introduce Ms. Kaylen Christiansen to the community today as our new Principal Designate and carry on this Dad’s Breakfast tradition!
Indigenous People’s Day
On Saturday, June 21, for National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada. It's a time to honour the stories, achievements and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to impact the evolving Canada. Next week, classrooms will be taking part in a variety of meaningful activities to honor this special day.
Summer Solstice
The summer solstice on June 20, 2025, holds significant cultural and spiritual importance for many Indigenous communities across Canada, as it coincides with National Indigenous Peoples Day. This day is a time to honor and celebrate the rich heritage, diverse cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. It's a moment of renewal, connection, and celebration, deeply rooted in traditions and ceremonies.
Classroom Assignments
Student placements are decided collaboratively by teaching staff and administration. The teachers work together closely in creating lists. We look at academic abilities, learning styles, teaching style, gender mix, friendships, and positive peer to peer relationships. This is a very thoughtful task as teachers think of the best interest of each child as they create class lists. Classroom assignments will not be shared prior to our first day of class as we are continuing to finalize enrollment numbers due to new registrations over the summer. Please do not request a specific teacher, as all our teaching staff are excellent! If you do wish to email me a specific educational consideration it will be read. However, there is no commitment on the school to accommodate specific classroom requests.
Sports Day
Sports Day has been postponed to Tuesday, June 24 at 8:15 a.m.
We will need volunteers for Tuesday! Your flexibility will be greatly appreciated to accommodate our alterative date. Please connect with your child’s teacher to confirm your availability.
All volunteers will meet in the gym at 8:00 a.m.

Talent Show
Tuesday, June 24 at 12:00 p.m.
Our Division One and Division Two Talent Shows have been rescheduled and will be held together in the afternoon on Tuesday, June 24 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
The length of the combined show will be approximately 1 hour.
Parents are invited to attend!
Orff Club
To celebrate the Orff Club’s wonderful performance at the Volunteer Tea, we held a small pizza party during our final session. I’m so proud of all the students for their hard work and dedication!
The total cost per student who participated in the celebration and had pizza is $7.02. This charge will be processed through the school office and added to your child’s account.
If your child was in Orff Club but did not eat pizza, you will not be charged.

Lost & Found
Please get your children to check the lost and found, as we have many clothing items. We will be bagging up any clothing left behind and donating it on Friday, June 27.
