Hello Earl Grey Families

Celebrating Asian Heritage Month in Canada

May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions, experiences, and impact of individuals of Asian heritage in Canada and around the world. According to the 2021 Census, more than seven million people in Canada reported having Asian origins, or about 19.3 per cent of the population. This is a large and diverse group that has contributed to every aspect of life in Canada.

CBE students and staff acknowledge Asian Heritage Month by learning about and celebrating traditional and contemporary Asian-Canadian culture. Students learn about the different journeys and histories of Asian communities and people, including the numerous achievements and contributions of Asian-Canadians.

Playground Committee Update

Give the gift of everlasting love this Mother's Day: Honour your mom's unwavering support with a brick in the playground, a timeless symbol of the foundation she laid as you learned and grew.

More information at www.egplayground.ca

If you have been thinking of volunteering to help the playground project we have three opportunities that we would love your help with.

1. Door knocking for a class pizza party!

The students have been excited about the playground project so when you sign up to door knock in the neighbourhoods surrounding Earl Grey to help spread the word, your child's class will receive a point toward winning a class pizza party. The classroom with the most points at the end of May wins a Pizza Party lunch hosted by the playground committee!

2.  If you work at or know of a company that has an employee, community or philanthropy program that would support this project please email the committee at earlgreyplayground@gmail.com.

3. The playground committee is looking for some accounting/bookkeeping support.  If you or someone you know is a bookkeeper, accountant, CFA or has project accounting experience and would be able to volunteer with the playground project please email earlgreyplayground@gmail.com

4. Copies of the playground project flyer are available at the school office.  So, if you have someone you would like to give a copy of it to or if you have somewhere you could post it, like your favourite coffee shop or office, please pick up the flyer from the school office.

Thank you for your support and contributions to help the Earl Grey students play together and grow together.

A heartfelt Thank You to all the Earl Grey teachers and staff this teacher appreciation week from the playground committee.
