What a great first week at Earl Grey School! There is a lot of information on this week, as we start up another amazing new school year. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or call the office. Have a great long weekend!


Morning Routines

  • Outdoor supervision begins at 7:45 a.m.
  • Soft entry begins at 7:50 a.m. (expectations for soft entry have been discussed at our welcome back assembly and class).
  • Warning bell rings at 7:57 a.m.
  • Classes begin at 8:00 a.m.

Parents/Guardians,  we kindly ask that you do not enter through the back doors or walk in with your students. If you need to enter the school for any reason, come to the front doors we are happy to help! If you are volunteering within the school you will need to sign in at the office and get at visitor tag.


Parking & Student Drop-Off

To keep arrival and dismissal safe and running smoothly:

  • Bus Zone: We have three buses this year. Please do not park along the south side of Hillcrest Ave. Vehicles parked in the bus zone may be ticketed.
  • Kiss’n’Ride - This area is for quick drop-off and pick-up only. If you would like to walk your child to their door, please park on Dorchester Ave. or Earl Grey Crescent.
  • Please do not make U-turns in front of the school and always use designated crosswalks.
  • The staff parking lot is for staff only.
  • Kindergarten/Preschool families: Please park on Dorchester Ave. and use the controlled crosswalk.
  • Little Steps Care families: The parking lot may be used before 7:45 a.m. and after 3:30 p.m.


Student Attendance

  • Call 403-777-8570 (option 1) if your child will be absent.
  • If picking up early, sign out in the green binder at the office.
  • Late arrivals must check in at the office before going to class.
  • Bus students: notify the office if you plan to pick them up instead.


Reminders from the Office

  • Online forms must be completed in SchoolEngage by September 14.
    • Look for a red number beside your child’s name (indicating required forms).
    • Click on your child’s name and the forms will appear.

Required forms include:

  • Demographic Verification (2026–27) – Alberta Education requirement for funding.
  • Citizenship Information Update (2026–27) – appears if citizenship details change.
  • Annual Authorization (2026–27) – includes:
    • CBE Use of Personal Information
    • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information
    • Consent for News Media/Outside Groups


Volunteering at Earl Grey- Important


We are grateful for our volunteers! Please review the volunteer process by utilizing this link to the Earl Grey website. Even if you already have police clearance, you must complete an annual volunteer registration form and return it to the school.

We are pleased to welcome additional new staff to our school for the 2026-27 school year:

New Additional Staff


This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.

We are pleased to welcome additional new staff to our school for the 2026-27 school year:

  • Jill Riley is one of our 4/5 classrooms as Michelle Fontanne is taking the Complexity Team Teacher role
  • Fangzhou Zhao was able to move into an addition grade 2 position
  • Heather Cook - Complexity Team EA
  • Maria Carwithen - Complexity Team EA
  • Ashleigh Smith will be with us as an EA this year as well
  • We are also in the process of hiring another EA as well


We are very pleased to welcome these new staff members to our school community! This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from:

  • Increased teacher attention
  • Improved classroom learning environments
  • Greater support for diverse learning needs


Google Classrooms


Each class will continue to use Google Classroom as:

  • An online hub for curriculum resources and communication.
  • A space for weekly learning summaries and, where possible, photos/examples.
  • A support hub for absences or if we pivot to online learning.
