Weekly Update Oct. 2-6 | Truth & Reconciliation, SchoolSurvey, Parking / Drop-off / Pickup, Pizza Fundraiser
Hello Earl Grey Families,
National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
This week was dedicated to bringing awareness to the impacts of residential schools with the goal of fostering truth and reconciliation. Students and staff participated in conversations and activities about how children should feel while at school and to foster understanding that EVERY CHILD MATTERS. Tomorrow is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. We encourage families to continue these conversations with your children at home around these topics to help further educate the ways of Indigenous people. Please have a look at the Truth and Reconciliation websites for more information: https://www.orangeshirtday.org/ and https://nctr.ca/education/trw/
OurSchool Survey
Students in Grades 4 to 6 will be completing the OurSCHOOL Survey from October 2 to 19. Please see the attached information letter under Resources.
Parking and Student Drop Off and Pick-Up
School Patrols, have begun at the 8th Street and Dorchester Avenue crosswalk. We ask parents and care-givers monitor your children’s safety while crossing.
Drop off for students may be done in the “Kiss’n’Ride” zone in front of Earl Grey School, as well as Dorchester Avenue and Earl Grey Crescent. Please observe the handicapped parking and Bus Zone on Hillcrest Avenue to allow access for our bused students. Also, please have your children use the crosswalk in front of the school on Hillcrest Avenue and do not allow them to jaywalk.
The staff parking lot is used for Earl Grey staff vehicles only!
Kindergarten and Preschool parents and care-givers should park vehicles on Dorchester Avenue and cross at the controlled crosswalk. We understand that this is not convenient, but necessary for student safety.
Little Steps Before and After Care families may use the parking lot prior to 7:45 a.m. and after 3:30 p.m. but parents must park in a designated stall and escort students in and out of the school.
