Hello Earl Grey Families,

Thank you to all our volunteers for supporting our Terry Fox Run this morning. It was great to see all our students, staff and parents participating and supporting the Terry Fox Foundation. Donations will still be accepted next week.

School Council Meeting | Sept. 19

Our first School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the school. The agenda is attached under Resources.

Meet the Teacher and Open House | Sept. 21

We will be having a Meet the Teacher and Open House on Thursday, September 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. No pre-registration or sign-up is required for this event.

Each teacher will provide two opportunities for a 15-minute presentation of what a typical day looks like, discuss home and school communication, and classroom expectations. Teachers will be available before and after the presentations to talk to families and answer questions. Feel free to have your children show you around the school and meet other families at Earl Grey.

The teacher’s presentation times will be:

Kindergarten AM 5:30-5:45pm
Kindergarten PM 6:00pm – 6:15pm
Grade 1/2 6:00pm – 6:15pm 7:00pm-7:15pm
Grade 3 6:30pm - 6:45pm 7:15pm- 7:30pm
Grade 4 6:15pm – 6:30pm 7:00pm- 7:15pm
Grade 5/6 6:30pm – 6:45pm 7:15pm – 7:30pm

Please take the time to visit the School Council table in the learning commons and find out how council supports our school. We encourage all parents to join!

Boys’ Choir

The Earl Grey Boys’ Choir for 2023-2024 began on Wednesday, September 13 at 11:00 am! I had 53 boys show up for the first practice to see if it was something they were interested in. Next Wednesday, the 20th will be the LAST opportunity for any new boys to join.

The boys will be preparing repertoire for our Earl Grey Remembrance Day Service to be held on November 8th beginning at 10:30 a.m. It is hoped that we will also take part in a field trip performing for perhaps a senior citizen home and possibly another school.

Boys who wish to join will need to show their commitment by attending the practices each week. The only excuse for not attending will be if they are not present in school on the practice day. We have a very short time span to prepare for our performances and attendance is a must.

Boys will need a long sleeved, white, button up shirt for their performances. A red bow tie will be provided for the performances.

Attendance

It is important that you call the school if your child is going to be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-8570 ext.1. If a student arrives to school late please have them come to the office before heading off to class.

Parents, please drop students off at their designated doors located in the back of the school. If you are picking students up early for an appointment, we ask that you sign your child out at the office using the green binder. If a student arrives late, please make sure the student checks in with the office prior to going to class.
