Hello Earl Grey Families,

Welcome to all our new and returning families! We have over 320 students registered for this year. We look forward to an exciting school year!

We are pleased to welcome the following new staff to the school.

Teachers:

• Ms. Michelle Fontanne – Grade 4
• Mr. Jeremy Junaid – Grade 5/6
• Miss. Aida Javed – Grade 5/6
• Mrs. Alicia Bateman – Kindergarten 

Support Staff

• Ms. Nadia Safadi who will be joining us as an Education Assistant 
• Ms. Haroona Beg as our new lunchroom assistants

Google Classrooms: 

Like last year, each class is required to have an online presence.  We will be using our google classrooms as an online warehouse of curriculum resources and as a communication hub between home and school. Teachers will be providing a brief summary of the weeks' activities completed in class. When possible, PDF pictures and examples will be attached.  If we are needing to pivot to online learning, or a child is ill or absent for an extended period of time, this is where students and families will access curriculum content and teacher support. Teachers are in the process of creating these online classrooms and enrolling students.  Google Classrooms will up and running by Friday, September 8. 

Morning Routines: Please Be On Time!! 

Our doors open at 7:55 a.m. each morning; this soft entry ensures that students are in class ready for learning when the bell rings at 8:00 a.m.  Outdoor supervision begins at 7:45 a.m. We ask that families do not arrive before 7:45 a.m. unless you are dropping off students at Little Steps Before and after School Care.  If you are dropping off at the Kiss and Ride in front of the school we ask that students make their way to the back of the school where supervision is in place.  

Bussing: 

We now have 5 busses transporting students to and from school.  Please be mindful of the no parking signage along the south side of Hillcrest Avenue as we need this space for loading and unloading students.  If you are new to Earl Grey and are accessing bussing from the Beltline (Connaught School) make sure you register for bussing using your MyCBE account.  Please be patient as routes are still being built and this is an extremely busy time for CBE Transportation. 

School Council: 

We wish to thank Julie Story and Aisling Tomei for their service as our School Council Chair and Co-Chair.  We are in need of a new Council Chair and Co-Chair. If you are interested in one of these positions, please contact me and I will relay your names to our council executive. 

Our first School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m.  An agenda will be provided closer to the meeting date.

• Wednesday, September 6 – Welcome Back Assembly at 12:00 p.m.
• Our first School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m.
• Our Meet the Teacher Night will be held on Thursday, September 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.
• Friday, September 22nd is a Professional Development Day – No School
